A virtual project created by Denbighshire County Council to improve and promote health and social care services available in the county has been shortlisted for a prestigious local government award.
The Council submitted ‘Ceri’s Family’ in the health and well-being category at the Local Government Chronicle Awards 2009.
Ceri's Family is a media family and has characters aged from 2 to 81, each with their own physical and social needs.
The aim of Ceri's family is to help people understand and find the services they may need. The characters do this by giving information through scenarios of real-life problems and situations.
Councillor Pauline Dobb, Cabinet Lead Member for Health, Social Care and Well-being, said: “I am delighted that this hi-tech and innovative project has been shortlisted in the local government awards.
“The Awards celebrate and reward every aspect of local government and it is an opportunity to highlight initiatives such as Ceri’s Family on a national level.
“This is the first time that Denbighshire has been shortlisted in the LGC awards and the council is delighted at this success. This news comes hot on the heels of numerous other awards that Denbighshire has either won or been shortlisted in recent times. It’s good to see the tremendous dedication of Denbighshire staff being recognised.”
Representatives of Ceri’s Family will present to a panel of judges in December and will find out the result at the awards being held in London on March 25.
